Jill Bellamy
Informed primarily by my installation and sculptural work at art college, my painting since then has been a constant exploration of abstraction. By using the texture and fluidity of oil paint I have been able to explore the physicality involved in creating work solely determined by my mood and emotions. This has consistently involved the use of vivid colours together with sweeping brushstrokes and lines to engender an expression of movement within the piece.
More recently, having lived in both the North and Scotland and attended a number of workshops, I have realised an innate desire to interpret the sometimes savage and primitive landscapes found there.
This love of wild places and the emotion instilled by becoming part of it, however briefly, is what has informed my most recent work.
